Oh My GaiaShort SynopsisThis novel is about Gaia, a long forgotten earth goddess whose name, when associated with an impactful scientific hypothesis about global warming, had the effect of reviving a spiritual metaphor with the potential to inspire universal reverence for everything alive on our planet. Her story is revealed through the lives of two aspiring scientists. Maggie is a young mixed-race girl from Hermosa Beach, California who commiserates with sea gulls and goes on to study deep ecology at a fictional university in Maryland. Her eventual soulmate, Chuy, is a Kishwa mestizo from Amazonian Ecuador who studies Ornithology at Cornell University. After several years of cerebral romance on the internet, they physically meet, fall in love, and are selected from a large pool of couples who compete online for a free wedding in which the winners commit to stand in as bride and groom for the wedding of Gaia (Motherh Earth) to God (Father Sun) that is live streamed around the world.
